This lecture covers the observation and analysis of skyrmion phases in magnetic materials, focusing on the metastable triangular and square skyrmion configurations. The instructor discusses the field-cooling and zero-field-cooling processes, as well as the magnetic field and temperature dependencies of these phases. Various experimental techniques, such as AC susceptibility measurements and RSXS diffraction patterns, are used to characterize the skyrmion structures. The lecture also explores the equilibrium and metastable states of skyrmions, providing insights into their behavior under different field sweeping paths.
