This lecture follows the journey of Dr. Michael Foale, a former NASA astronaut, from his childhood dream of becoming an astronaut to his experiences working at NASA. Dr. Foale shares his path from finishing a PhD in Astrophysics at Cambridge University to being selected as an astronaut, detailing his role in payload operations for the Space Shuttle and his time on the Mir space station, including a challenging recovery mission after a collision. He also discusses the importance of learning Russian for his missions and the unique experiences of living and working in space.
