This lecture presents a prototype of a single-curved timber shell, expanding the design space from folded geometries to low curved arches. The structure, with a 25-meter span, consists of two layers of timber plates connected with tenon wood-wood connections. The use of a Miura-ori pattern, quad grid, and triangulation technique in the design process is discussed, along with the application of Shape-Up algorithm to determine the final form and local geometry of the structure. The lecture also covers the optimized mechanical performances of the structural system, particularly focusing on the wood-wood connections' ability to transfer forces and moments without additional connectors.
