This lecture explores the recent progress in generating high-average power Terahertz (THz) for Time Domain Spectroscopy (TDS). It reviews the state-of-the-art of high-power ultrafast laser sources and the challenges in scaling THz average power. The presentation discusses the potential applications of novel lab-based sources in various research areas, driven by state-of-the-art, high-average power ultrafast Yb-gain based lasers. The lecture also covers the techniques for THz generation, such as optical rectification in nonlinear crystals, and the advancements in achieving power levels in the THz domain.
