Arsenic in SE Asia Delta

This lecture explores the biogeochemistry of arsenic in the SE Asia delta, focusing on the speciation of inorganic and organic arsenic species, their mobility, and toxicity. It covers the formation of thio-arsenic species, human exposure through drinking water and rice, and the role of microbial transformations in arsenic cycling. The impact of excess pumping on groundwater contamination, the importance of clay caps in limiting arsenic mobility, and the treatment methods for arsenic removal are also discussed.
