This lecture covers the mineralogical origin of soil constituents, the alteration of bedrock, and the different types of weathering processes including physical, chemical, and biological alterations. It also discusses the role of water and organic materials in chemical weathering, as well as the formation of secondary minerals and the release of elements into the environment.
