This lecture covers spin-orbit interaction, topology, and time scales in quantum physics, focusing on spin- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (SARPES) and topological materials. It delves into spin interference in topological insulators and the determination of fundamental time scales with SARPES, providing insights into the observables in photoemission and the spin polarization vector. The lecture also explores ARPES with spin resolution, circular dichroism on topological insulators, and the potential use of circular dichroism for spin detection. Additionally, it discusses the direct determination of spin polarization vectors of bands, the interface states between topological and trivial systems, and the topological interface/surface states.
