Multi-Regional Input Output Analysis: EXIOBASE 3

This lecture covers the computation of Economy-Wide Material Flow Analysis (EW-MFA) for Switzerland in 2019 using EXIOBASE 3. EXIOBASE 3 provides detailed environmentally extended input-output tables for 44 countries, allowing the analysis of environmental impacts associated with final consumption. The lecture explains the development of EXIOBASE 3, its building blocks, and the process of linking country supply-use tables. It also discusses the mathematical background of Input-Output calculations and the basic MRIO calculations. Students will learn how to download MRIO databases automatically, compare results with official statistics, and perform calculations using Python library pymrio.
