This lecture discusses the growing issue of e-waste, with 50 million tonnes produced annually and only 20% recycled. It explores the composition of e-waste, the recovery of precious metals like gold, silver, and palladium, and the recycling processes involved. The recovery methods include collection, disassembly, depollution, crushing, shredding, separation, and recovery of precious metals using pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical processes. The lecture also covers the environmental impact, technical processes, and economic aspects of e-waste recycling.
