This lecture discusses the restructuring of precarious neighborhoods in African cities, focusing on the case of Morocco. It covers the country's urbanization trends, housing deficits, and the existence of various forms of substandard housing. The presentation also delves into the history, framework, and intervention methods of the VSB program, highlighting the rehousing of around 400,000 households and the international recognition received. Lessons learned include the importance of strong political support, integrated city-wide programs, and high levels of community and stakeholder participation.
