Romain Buchs

Biography

Romain Buchs leads IRGC’s project with the EPFL Space Center (eSpace) and Space Innovation on evaluating and managing risks related to space debris, and conducts broader work on space sustainability. Mr Buchs graduated from ETH Zürich in 2020 with an MSc in Science, Technology and Policy. He conducted his thesis, entitled “Pricing space junk: A policy assessment of space debris mitigation and remediation in the new space era,” at ClearSpace, the startup company selected by the European Space Agency to perform the first orbital debris removal mission. He also obtained an MSc in Physics from EPFL in 2018, during which he conducted his thesis in observational cosmology at Stanford University. Mr Buchs has worked as Project Associate for Apricum in Berlin and as Research Assistant in Prof. Thomas Bernauer’s group “International Political Economy” at ETH Zürich.
