This paper presents a preliminary assessment of the Extremum Seeking-based Vertical Stabilization system originally proposed in Dubbioso et al. (2022), in view of possible deployment on the TCV tokamak. The control algorithm has been modified to adapt it to TCV, specifically to the switching power supply that feeds the coils used to generate the radial field needed to vertically stabilize the plasma. The test cases considered for this preliminary assessment deal with the capability to reject vertical displacement events for different TCV plasmas. In particular, the case of a relatively highly elongated plasma is also taken into account, to evaluate the requirements related to the switching frequency and maximum required voltage for the power supply that feeds the control coils.
