Alexis ClairautAlexis Claude Clairaut (alɛksi klod klɛʁo; 13 May 1713 – 17 May 1765) was a French mathematician, astronomer, and geophysicist. He was a prominent Newtonian whose work helped to establish the validity of the principles and results that Sir Isaac Newton had outlined in the Principia of 1687. Clairaut was one of the key figures in the expedition to Lapland that helped to confirm Newton's theory for the figure of the Earth. In that context, Clairaut worked out a mathematical result now known as "Clairaut's theorem".
Aymeric ChaupradeAymeric Chauprade (born 13 January 1969) is a French writer, political scientist and politician. He left the National Front on 9 November 2015, mostly for "moral and political" principles, to found Les Français Libres. A student and disciple of François Thual, he is an advocate of realpolitik. He was elected to the European Parliament from the National Front for the Île-de-France constituency in the 2014 European Parliament election.
Louis PauwelsLouis Pauwels (povɛls; 2 August 1920 – 28 January 1997) was a French journalist and writer. Born in Paris, France, he wrote in many monthly literary French magazines as early as 1946 (including Esprit and Variété) until the 1950s. He participated in the foundation of Travail et Culture (Work and Culture) in 1946 (intended to spread culture to the masses, and of which he was the secretary). In 1948, he joined the work groups of G. I. Gurdjieff for 15 months, until he became editor in chief of Combat in 1949 and editor of the newspaper Paris-Presse.
Lucien de la RiveLucien de la Rive (3 April 1834 - 4 May 1924) was a Swiss physicist. He studied electromagnetism and wrote an early article on the Theory of relativity. He was also interested in literature, and published a translation of works of Tennyson. De la Rive was born in Choulex, Switzerland, son of the physicist Auguste Arthur de la Rive. He studied at the Academy of Geneva and at the École Polytechnique in Paris.
Maredsous AbbeyMaredsous Abbey is a Benedictine monastery at Maredsous, in the municipality of Anhée, Wallonia, Belgium. It is a founding member of the Annunciation Congregation of the Benedictine Confederation. The abbey was founded as a priory on 15 November 1872 by Beuron Abbey, with the financial support of the Desclée family, who donated some land and paid for the plans and construction of the buildings which were designed by Jean-Baptiste Bethune. In 1878, the priory was raised to the status of abbey by Pope Leo XIII and became a member of the Congregation of Beuron.
Fondements de la Géometrie AlgébriqueFondements de la Géometrie Algébrique (FGA) is a book that collected together seminar notes of Alexander Grothendieck. It is an important source for his pioneering work on scheme theory, which laid foundations for algebraic geometry in its modern technical developments. The title is a translation of the title of André Weil's book Foundations of Algebraic Geometry. It contained material on descent theory, and existence theorems including that for the Hilbert scheme.
Bruno ÉtienneBruno Étienne (born in 1937 in La Tronche, Isère, died in Aix-en-Provence on 4 March 2009 after a cancer) was a French sociologist, freemason and a political analyst. He was a specialist of Algeria, Islam and anthropology of the religious and masonic fact. He graduated in Arabic-language and political sciences at the Institut d'études politiques d'Aix-en-Provence and the University of Tunis. Bruno Étienne was a researcher in Cairo and was a teacher at the ENA-Algiers, at the law faculty of Algiers and the universities of Casablanca and Marmara.

He was professor at the University of Luxembourg, and at the Facultés Universitaires Saint-Louis in Brussels. His works mainly focused on Husserl's phenomenology. Margalit MatitiahuMargalit Matitiahu (Hebrew: מרגלית מתתיהו, born 1935, in Tel Aviv) is a poet in Ladino and Hebrew from Israel. After the Holocaust, her parents moved to Israel from Thessaloniki, Greece where they were Sephardi Jews who were descendants of Jews from León. She studied Hebrew Literature and Philosophy at Bar Ilan University. She started writing in Hebrew and in 1988 she published Curtijo Quemado (later in Vela de luz) in Ladino, which is a testimony of Nazi destruction. She has worked as a presenter in radio and investigated her mother tongue.
Louis BachelierLouis Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Bachelier (baʃəlje; 11 March 1870 – 28 April 1946) was a French mathematician at the turn of the 20th century. He is credited with being the first person to model the stochastic process now called Brownian motion, as part of his doctoral thesis The Theory of Speculation (Théorie de la spéculation, defended in 1900). Bachelier's doctoral thesis, which introduced the first mathematical model of Brownian motion and its use for valuing stock options, was the first paper to use advanced mathematics in the study of finance.
