Grand EstGrand Est (ɡʁɑ̃t‿ɛst; Grossa Oschta; Moselle Franconian/Grouss Osten; Rhine Franconian: Groß Oschte; Großer Osten ˈɡʁoːsɐ ˈʔɔstn̩; "Great East") is an administrative region in northeastern France. It superseded three former administrative regions, Alsace, Champagne-Ardenne and Lorraine, on 1 January 2016 under the provisional name of Alsace-Champagne-Ardenne-Lorraine (alzas ʃɑ̃paɲ aʁdɛn lɔʁɛn; ACAL or, less commonly, ALCA), as a result of territorial reform which had been passed by the French Parliament in 2014.

Wim van EstWillem "Wim" van Est (25 March 1923 – 1 May 2003) was a Dutch racing cyclist. He is best known for being the first Dutch cyclist to wear the yellow jersey as leader of the general classification in the Tour de France of 1951, and for falling into a ravine while wearing it. Van Est was born in the town of Fijnaart, in North Brabant, the 2nd child in a family of 16 children. His family was pushed into poverty in the aftermath of World War One and growing up he lived on a makeshift farm.

The station was opened on 15 November 1907 as part of the extension of line 5 from Lancry (now Jacques Bonsergent) to Gare du Nord.

Surrounded by Chantilly Forest, the town of 10,863 inhabitants (2017) falls within the metropolitan area of Paris. It lies 38.4 km (23.9 miles) north-northeast of the centre of Paris and together with six neighbouring communes forms an urban area of 37,254 inhabitants (2018).
