Ville-d'AvrayVille-d'Avray (vil davʁɛ) is a commune in the western suburbs of Paris, France. It is located from the centre of Paris. The commune is part of the arrondissement of Boulogne-Billancourt in the Hauts-de-Seine department. In 2019, it had a population of 11,225. Ville-d'Avray contains a suburban rail line station called Sèvres – Ville d'Avray station on the Transilien Paris-Saint-Lazare suburban rail line. This station is an 800-meter walk from the residential area of Ville-d'Avray.
Fortress BesiegedFortress Besieged (Traditional Chinese: 圍城; Simplified Chinese: 围城; Pinyin: Wéichéng) is a Chinese satirical novel written by Qian Zhongshu (Ch'ien Chung-shu), first published in 1947, and widely considered one of the masterpieces of twentieth century Chinese literature. The novel is a humorous tale about middle-class Chinese society in the late 1930s. It gained worldwide popularity after it was reprinted in the 1980s and made into a television series in 1990. Qian Zhongshu started writing the novel in 1944 and completed it in 1946.
Maryse ChoisyMaryse Choisy (1903–1979) was a French philosophical writer, journalist and founder of the journal Psyché. Born in Saint-Jean-de-Luz on 1 February 1903, she was brought up by her rich aunts in a historical castle in the Basque country. After the end of the First World War, she went to study at Girton College, part of the University of Cambridge. In 1927, she sought psychoanalytical treatment from Sigmund Freud and upon recounting an anxiety dream to him Freud apparently concluded, correctly, that she had been an illegitimate child.
Jérôme DorivalJérôme Dorival (born in 1952) is a French clarinetist, composer and musicologist. Born in Paris, Jérôme Dorival is one of the four sons of historian and art critic, Bernard Dorival. He studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Norbert Dufourcq and Rémy Stricker, and at the Sorbonne with Albert Soboul, Pierre Vilar, Dominique Julia and Alphonse Dupront. His doctoral thesis in musicology deals with La Cantatille en France au XVIII, under the direction of Jacques Chailley.

Annie BélisAnnie Bélis (born 1951) is a French archaeologist, philologist, papyrologist and musician. She is a research director at the French CNRS, specialized in music from classical antiquity, Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. A former student of the École normale supérieure in Sèvres from 1972 to 1975, Bélis passed the agrégation in ancient literature in 1976. Then, Annie Bélis joined the Fondation Thiers from 1979 à 1982. She finished her PhD during her last year at Fondation Thiers and defended it at Paris-Sorbonne University.
Danielle BleitrachDanielle Bleitrach (born 1938) is a French sociologist and journalist. From the 1970s through the end of the century, she was CNRS researcher and lecturer at the Aix-Marseille University, focusing on the sociology of the working class and urbanization. From 1981 to 1996 she was a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of France, then the National Committee of the Party. She was also assistant editor-in-chief of the party weekly Révolution. She has contributed to La Pensée, Les Temps Modernes and Le Monde Diplomatique.
Sofiane BouhdibaSofiane Bouhdiba is a Tunisian demographer, born on 12 April 1968. He is Professor of Demography in the department of Sociology in the University of Tunis. He has taught in many universities in Europe, Africa and the United States, and has participated in a great number of international conferences, with a focus on mortality and morbidity. As an international consultant to the United Nations, he had the opportunity to observe closely the history of the fight against major diseases in the world.
Habib TawaHabib Tawa (born 31 October 1945) in Tripoli, Lebanon is a French historian, journalist and mathematician. His doctoral thesis in history, under the joint supervision of the EHESS and the Paris-Sorbonne University, focused on contemporary Egypt, while his thesis in mathematics, argued at the University of Paris-Sud, was devoted to linear algebra. Thereafter, he turned his research and publications on the history of religion (Samaritans, fr etc.), on contemporary Middle East and Central and East Asia.
