Werte der deutschen HeimatWerte der deutschen Heimat (literally "Values of the German Homeland") originally Werte der Deutschen Heimat and, between 1970 and 1990 called Werte unserer Heimat, was a series of publications by former East German Academy of Sciences at Berlin, that was published by Akademie-Verlag Berlin and included more than 50 volumes. The work was undertaken by the Academy’s Local History Working Group within the Institute for Geography and Geo-ecology. The aim of this series was to produce a comprehensive inventory of local history works in East Germany.
Streitburg CastleThe ruins of Streitburg Castle (Burgruine Streitburg or Streitberg Castle (Burgruine Streitberg) are the remains of a high mediaeval aristocratic castle above the village of Streitberg, in the market borough of Wiesenttal in the Upper Franconian county of Forchheim in the German state of Bavaria. They lie directly opposite the ruins of Neideck Castle, the symbol of Franconian Switzerland, on the other side of the valley. The ruins are freely accessible to the public.
Gottlob Ludwig RabenhorstGottlob Ludwig Rabenhorst (22 March 1806 – 24 April 1881) was a German botanist and mycologist. Rabenhorst was born in Treuenbrietzen. He studied in Berlin and Belzig from 1822 to 1830, worked as a pharmacist in Luckau until 1840, and received his doctorate in Jena in 1841. From 1840, he lived in Dresden, relocating to nearby Meissen in 1875, where he died aged 75. Renowned for his research of cryptogamic flora native to central Europe, his name is associated with Dr. L.

Heinrich FinkHeinrich Fink (31 March 1935 – 1 July 2020) was a German theologian, university professor and politician (Die Linke). In 1991 Fink was dismissed from Humboldt University of Berlin due to allegations against him being a former informer for the East German state security office, the Stasi. Fink denied the allegations. Fink was born in Korntal, Bessarabia, Romania (today Cantemir, part of Nădejdea commune, in Sarata Raion) and came from an impoverished Bessarabian German peasant family.
Walter MigulaEmil Friedrich August Walter (or Walther) Migula (born 1863 in Zyrowa, Prussia (present-day Poland); died 1938 in Eisenach, Germany) was a German botanist. In 1890, he was habilitated for botany at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, where he spent several years as a professor. At Karlsruhe, he also worked in the bacteriology department of the Food Research Institute. He was Professor of Botany at the research academy at Eisenach. He published many articles on the subjects of cryptogamic botany, bacteriology, and plant physiology.
Hermann MerxmüllerHermann Merxmüller (30 August 1920 Munich – 8 February 1988) was a German botanist and taxonomist. Merxmüller's interest in botany was noticed at an early age by his mentors, and he was encouraged to collect in the Bavarian Alps and countryside. At 17 he joined the Bavarian Botanical Society and at the end of World War II was awarded a scholarship by the Maximilian Foundation, enabling him to study biology at the University of Munich.
Wolfsberg Castle (Obertrubach)The ruins of Wolfsberg Castle (Burgruine Wolfsberg) are the remains of a former high mediaeval, aristocratic, castle which stands high above the Trubach valley over the eponymous village of Wolfsberg. The village is part of the municipality of Obertrubach in the Upper Franconian county of Forchheim in the German state of Bavaria. The upper bailey is permanently open to the public and serves as a viewing point; the lower bailey is partly in private ownership and is not accessible.
Rabenstein Castle (Upper Franconia)Rabenstein Castle (Burg Rabenstein) is a former high medieval aristocratic castle in the municipality of Ahorntal in the Upper Franconian county of Bayreuth in the German state of Bavaria. The spur castle may be visited for an entrance fee. The hill castle is located within the Franconian Switzerland-Veldenstein Forest Nature Park on a rocky hill spur at a height of about 420 metres over the valley of the Ailsbach in Franconian Switzerland, 6.5 kilometres northwest of Pottenstein.
