The work is similar to Tragiques by Agrippa d'Aubigné, which has a similar style. The poem contains a conversation between a worm and Death, the complaints of an oak tree assailed by soldiers, an argument between Martin Luther and the Devil, and a visit to Rabelais by Reason personified, among other étrangetés.

Mickael KorvinMickael Korvin is a Franco-American author and translator. He is the creator of a French spelling reform called "nouvofrancet", an extremely simplified orthography for French. Fluent in the English and French languages, Korvin has alternated between writing novels in French and English, and translating foreign texts into French. His early work, Le boucher du Vaccarès (1990) and Je, Toro (1991) revisited the nouveau roman in an attempt to break what Korvin saw as the reigning nostalgia in contemporary French letters.
Ernest DesjardinsAntoine Émile Ernest Desjardins (30 September 1823 – 22 October 1886) was a French historian, geographer and archaeologist. He was a younger brother of historian Abel Desjardins (1814–1886). In 1856 he began teaching classes in Latin epigraphy at the Lycée Napoleon in Paris, and from 1861 taught courses in geography at the École Normale Supérieure. For several years he conducted archaeological research in Italy, Egypt and regions along the Danube. In 1875, he became a member of the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres.
SercquiaisSercquiais (sɛʁkjɛ) , also known as lé Sèrtchais, Sarkese or Sark-French, is the Norman dialect of the Channel Island of Sark (Bailiwick of Guernsey). Sercquiais is a descendant of the 16th century Jèrriais used by the original colonists, 40 families mostly from Saint Ouen, Jersey who settled the then uninhabited island, although influenced in the interim by Guernésiais (the dialect of Guernsey). It is also closely related to the now-extinct Auregnais (Alderney) dialect, as well as to Continental Norman.
