Abstract

Short-wavelength irradn. of Ph3P+C-Me2 gave C6H6 and a resinous compd. Long-wavelength irradn. of Ph3P+C-Me2 gave mainly Ph3P and Me2C:CMe2 with some Me2CHCHMe2, MeCH:CH2, and, with Me2CHCHMe2 as solvent, traces of (Me2CH)2CMe2 and Me2CHCHMeCH2CHMe2. the reaction proceeded via .CMe2.PPh3. PH
In chemistry, pH (piːˈeɪtʃ ), also referred to as acidity, historically denotes "potential of hydrogen" (or "power of hydrogen"). It is a scale used to specify the acidity or basicity of an aqueous solution. Acidic solutions (solutions with higher concentrations of hydrogen () ions) are measured to have lower pH values than basic or alkaline solutions. The pH scale is logarithmic and inversely indicates the activity of hydrogen ions in the solution. where [H+] is the equilibrium molar concentration (mol/L) of H+ in the solution.
Chemical reaction
A chemical reaction is a process that leads to the chemical transformation of one set of chemical substances to another. Classically, chemical reactions encompass changes that only involve the positions of electrons in the forming and breaking of chemical bonds between atoms, with no change to the nuclei (no change to the elements present), and can often be described by a chemical equation. Nuclear chemistry is a sub-discipline of chemistry that involves the chemical reactions of unstable and radioactive elements where both electronic and nuclear changes can occur.
Triphenylphosphine
Triphenylphosphine (IUPAC name: triphenylphosphane) is a common organophosphorus compound with the formula P(C6H5)3 and often abbreviated to PPh3 or Ph3P. It is widely used in the synthesis of organic and organometallic compounds. PPh3 exists as relatively air stable, colorless crystals at room temperature. It dissolves in non-polar organic solvents such as benzene and diethyl ether. Triphenylphosphine can be prepared in the laboratory by treatment of phosphorus trichloride with phenylmagnesium bromide or phenyllithium.

Reactivity of Bromine Radical with Dissolved Organic Matter Moieties and Monochloramine: Effect on Bromate Formation during Ozonation

Urs von Gunten, Sung Eun Lim

Bromine radical (Br center dot) has been hypothesized to be a key intermediate of bromate formation during ozonation. Once formed, Br center dot further reacts with ozone to eventually form bromate. However, this reaction competes with the reaction of Br c ...
