Abstract

Research efforts in the design of image-based gestural interfaces have steadily increased over the last few years. Numerous approaches have been investigated to recognize gestures such as facial expressions, hand gestures or hand postures. Nevertheless, there exist no reference databases and no standards for the evaluation and the comparison of developed algorithms in gesture recognition and especially in hand posture recognition. This document proposes an evaluation protocol for a benchmark hand posture database, namely the Triesch hand posture database. This document provides also comparative results on this database.
