Devis TuiaI come from Ticino and studied in Lausanne, between UNIL and EPFL. After my PhD at UNIL in remote sensing, I was postdoc in Valencia (Spain), Boulder (CO) and EPFL, working on model adaptation and prior knowledge integration in machine learning. In 2014 I became Research Assistant Professor at University of Zurich, where I started the 'multimodal remote sensing' group. In 2017, I joined Wageningen University (NL), where I was professor of the GeoInformation Science and Remote Sensing Laboratory. Since 2020, I joined EPFL Valais, to start the ECEO lab, working at the interface between Earth observation, machine learning and environmental sciences.
Yves PerriardYves Perriard was born in Lausanne in 1965. He received the M. Sc. in Microengineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology - Lausanne (EPFL) in 1989 and the Ph D. degree in 1992. Co-founder of Micro-Beam SA, he was CEO of this company involved in high precision electric drive. Senior lecturer from 1998 and professor since 2003, he is currently director of Laboratory of Integrated Actuators. His research interests are in the field of new actuator design and associated electronic devices. In 2009, he is appointed Vice-Director of the Microengineering Institute in Neuchâtel until 2011. In 2013 the Federal Council has named him the the CTI commission in Bern. In 2014 he is appointed guest professor at Zhejiang University in China. In 2017, the lab is granted by the Werner Siemens Foundation of an amount of 12 millions CHF in order to set up a new Center for Artificial Muscules. His main research centers on building physics and examines how the thermo-hydrodynamic behavior of airflow in a ventilated cavity behind traditional and modern (BIPV) external claddings impacts the thermal performance of the entire building envelope. To tackle this topic, he takes a multidisciplinary approach that encompasses numerical analyses, CFD simulations, and experimental measurements. Before joining EPFL, he worked as a project manager assistant in Shiraz, Iran, on quite a few industrial projects including the design of the ventilation systems of Tehran-Shomal Freeway, design of the air conditioning systems of Shiraz subway, and design of the air exhaust and jet fan systems of the Shiraz longest underpass. He holds a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Sharif University of Technology, Iran, where he investigated water purification through monolayer graphene membranes using Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulation. In his bachelor's degree in Shiraz University, he successfully achieved publishing a journal paper in the field of biomechanics that addressed the distribution of the pressure and velocity fields in the human upper airway during sneezing using CFD simulations.

Je suis membre de différentes associations professionnelles parmi lesquelles figuent le Conseil Mondial de l'énergie (CME) et l'Association internationale pour l'économie de l'énergie (AIEE). Comme membre du groupe d'étude du CME sur les vulnérabilités, j'ai développé les métriques utilisées pour évaluer la vulnérabilité énergétique des pays industrialisés.
Depuis janvier 2008 : membre du Comité d'édition du journal international Bioresource Technology.
Depuis 2009: membre du Comité de la "European Biofuels Technology Platform" Berend SmitBerend Smit received an MSc in Chemical Engineering in 1987 and an MSc in Physics both from the Technical University in Delft (the Netherlands). He received in 1990 cum laude PhD in Chemistry from Utrecht University (the Netherlands). He was a (senior) Research Physicists at Shell Research from 1988-1997, Professor of Computational Chemistry at the University of Amsterdam (the Netherlands) 1997-2007.
In 2004 Berend Smit was elected Director of the European Center of Atomic and Molecular Computations (CECAM) Lyon France. Since 2007 he is Professor of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry at U.C. Berkeley and Faculty Chemist at Materials Sciences Division, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Since 2014 he has been director of the Energy Center at EPFL.
Jessen PageJessen Page was born in Dubai (UAE) in 1975. After attending school in Bulle (Switzerland) he studied physics for two years at the University of Konstanz, Germany, before joining the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. He graduated in June 2002 and joined the Solar Energy and Building Physics Laboratory 4 months later. He has been working on the EU funded SUNtool project since its launching in January 2003.
