Central serviceDurabilite EPFL, a central service at EPFL, is dedicated to sustainability as a strategic focus area. Committed to integrating sustainability into all operations, the unit focuses on education, research, and innovation to address urgent global climate challenges. Through a Climate & Sustainability Strategy, EPFL aims to provide a sustainability-oriented education, develop sustainable solutions through research, and transform these solutions into practical tools for society. The unit collaborates with partner networks to achieve sustainability goals and make EPFL campuses more resilient to climate change. Research and innovation play a crucial role in EPFL's sustainability efforts, with around 100 labs conducting sustainability-related research. Initiatives focus on energy efficiency, sustainable construction, green chemistry, and other sustainability topics, with partnerships established to drive impactful R&D. The unit also supports sustainability through publications, funding initiatives, and postdoctoral fellowship programs.
