The Institut interfacultaire de Bioingenierie (STI) at EPFL focuses on performing world-class research at the intersection of engineering, physics, chemistry, computer science, and life sciences. The institute's mission is to better understand basic biological principles and translate this knowledge into innovative technology platforms and clinical applications. With a diverse faculty background, the institute explores bioimaging, bioinstrumentation, biophysics, quantitative biology, nano- and microscale bioengineering, and neuroengineering. Research activities include investigating fundamental biophysical processes at the single-molecule and nanoscale levels, studying complex biological networks, and developing novel technologies such as drug delivery systems, immunotherapy, tissue engineering, and biomedical micro-devices. The institute offers Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. programs in bioengineering, providing a rich educational environment for students interested in interdisciplinary research.
