The Institute of Civil Engineering at EPFL is dedicated to addressing the unprecedented challenges faced by civil engineers in the coming decades, such as urban population growth, resource scarcity, and climate change. Their mission is to develop significant scientific results, advanced learning support, and innovative technologies to improve the quality of life and reduce environmental impact. The institute conducts research in core disciplines like structures and materials, transportation and networks, and geosystems and natural resources, as well as at the interface with environmental engineering and architecture. With exceptional experimental facilities, including large-scale structure testing capabilities, the institute fosters excellence in fundamental and applied research. They are currently experiencing growth with the emergence of EPFL Valais and EPFL Fribourg campuses.
