The Chair in Innovation and Intellectual Property Policy at EPFL focuses on developing novel measurement methodologies for intangibles and advancing evidence-based innovation policy. Research at the chair aims to provide a policy environment that best addresses the needs of the knowledge economy by studying the various actors of the innovation system and their interactions. The research is interdisciplinary, combining economics and engineering to characterize causal patterns in the innovation system. The team at the chair includes researchers investigating the implications of mobility for science and innovation, as well as the economics of innovation and applied econometrics. The chair also offers teaching in econometrics, emphasizing valid inference from economic data with examples from innovation and entrepreneurship.
