The International Centre for Risk Management (IRGC) at EPFL was a globally operating center that focused on multi-stakeholder risk governance and public policy related to emerging technologies. IRGC provided a risk governance approach to EPFL activities, emphasizing the importance of governing risks without hindering innovation. The center's work was based on the IRGC Risk Governance Framework and guidelines developed to address challenges in governing emerging and systemic risks. IRGC collaborated with the IRGC Foundation and conducted projects on precision medicine, space debris, climate engineering, nanotechnology, digital currencies, and more. The center aimed to identify and analyze risks, promote scientific and technical opportunities, facilitate multi-stakeholder dialogues, and offer generic recommendations for risk governance.
