The Lausanne Centre for Ultrafast Science (LACUS) at EPFL is a research center focused on femtosecond laser technology and advanced spectroscopies. LACUS provides user access to cutting-edge ultrafast laser, X-ray, and electron technologies, enabling researchers to conduct experiments and develop new technologies. The research core of LACUS revolves around understanding light-matter interactions on a femtosecond time scale using various spectroscopy methods, such as photoelectron spectroscopy, ultrafast electron diffraction, and transmission microscopy. By collaborating with experts in physics, chemistry, engineering, and life sciences, LACUS aims to address fundamental and practical challenges facing society through interdisciplinary research and technology development.
