The Applied Mechanical Design Laboratory (LAMD) at EPFL focuses on the design and experimental investigation of small-scale turbomachinery for decentralized energy conversion, with applications in gas turbines, compressors, and expanders. Research activities include high-speed bearing technologies, gas lubricated bearings, and integrated mechanical design optimization methodologies. LAMD collaborates with industry and academic institutions to address real-world problems through projects. The laboratory also provides students with opportunities for direct involvement in sponsored projects, fostering a dynamic exchange of knowledge and ideas.
