Signal Processing Laboratory 5
LaboratorySignal Processing Laboratory 5 (LTS5) at EPFL, led by Prof. Jean-Philippe Thiran, focuses on image analysis, medical image analysis, ultrasound imaging, and multimodal signal processing. Their research includes image segmentation, object detection, facial image analysis, eye tracking, diffusion MR image analysis, and brain connectivity analysis. LTS5 has gained recognition for projects like machine vision for urban cleanliness assessment and contributions to mapping the human connectome. They are actively involved in developing advanced techniques for ultrasound imaging, eye tracking, and gaze estimation, with applications in various fields such as human behavior research, cognitive science, medical research, and assistive technology. The laboratory also offers opportunities for students to engage in projects related to deep learning for ultrasound image quality enhancement and foetal head segmentation on 3D-tracked ultrasound images.
