The School of Basic Sciences at EPFL combines intellectual excellence with unique infrastructure to provide an outstanding educational and research environment in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and chemical engineering. The Institute of Physics is responsible for cutting-edge research in quantum science, condensed matter, biophysics, complex systems, particle physics, astrophysics, and energy. The Mathematics section offers high-quality education programs in theoretical and applied mathematics at all university levels, catering to students from EPFL and other local universities. The Chemistry and Chemical Engineering section trains students in chemistry, chemical engineering, and biotechnology, offering Bachelor of Science and Master's programs, as well as a PhD program in chemical engineering.
