Rachid GuerraouiRachid Guerraoui has been affiliated with Ecole des Mines of Paris, the Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique of Saclay, Hewlett Packard Laboratories and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has worked in a variety of aspects of distributed computing, including distributed algorithms and distributed programming languages. He is most well known for his work on (e-)Transactions, epidemic information dissemination and indulgent algorithms.
He co-authored a book on Transactional Systems (Hermes) and a book on reliable distributed programming (Springer). He was appointed program chair of ECOOP 1999, ACM Middleware 2001, IEEE SRDS 2002, DISC 2004 and ACM PODC 2010.

Aurelio MuttoniAurelio Muttoni est professeur ordinaire et directeur du Laboratoire de Construction en Béton de l’Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Suisse). Il a reçu son diplôme et son doctorat en génie civil de l’Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Zürich à Zürich, Suisse, en 1982 et 1989 respectivement.
Ses activités actuelles en matière d’enseignement se concentrent sur la conception des structures, la théorie et le dimensionnement des structures en béton ainsi que la conception des ponts. Son groupe de recherche est actif dans les domaines suivants : comportement et méthodes de dimensionnement des structures en béton, conception de structures innovantes, effort tranchant dans les structures en béton, poinçonnement des dalles, analyse non-linéaire des structures incluant leur fiabilité, adhérence entre l’acier et le béton, engrènement des granulats, fatigue et influence de la durée de chargement sur la résistance du béton, comportement mécanique et principes de dimensionnement pour le béton à ultra-hautes performances, béton textile et béton recyclé.

Alcherio MartinoliI received my Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ), and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). I am currently an Associate Professor at the School of Architecture, Civil, and Environmental Engineering and the head of the Distributed Intelligent Systems and Algorithms Laboratory. Before joining EPFL I carried out research activities at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering of the ETHZ, at the Institute of Industrial Automation of the Spanish Research Council in Madrid, Spain, and at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, U.S.A. Diego GhezziProf. Diego Ghezzi holds the Medtronic Chair in Neuroengineering at the School of Engineering at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. He received his M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering (2004) and Ph.D. in Bioengineering (2008) from Politecnico di Milano. From 2008 to 2013, he completed his postdoctoral training at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia in Genova at the Department of Neuroscience and Brain Technologies; where he was promoted to Researcher in 2013. In 2015, he was appointed as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Bioengineering at the EPFL Center for Neuroprosthetics and Institute of Bioengineering.
