Tenth gradeTenth grade (also 10th Grade or Grade 10) is the tenth year of formal or compulsory education. It is typically the first year of high school. In many parts of the world, students in tenth grade are usually 15 or 16 years of age. For most Australian states, Year 10 is the fourth year of a student's high school education. However, in the Northern Territory, it is the first year of senior school, which occurs after high school. While in contrast, in most South Australian public schools, it is the third year of high school.

Advanced PlacementAdvanced Placement (AP) is a program in the United States and Canada created by the College Board. AP offers undergraduate university-level curricula and examinations to high school students. Colleges and universities in the US and elsewhere may grant placement and course credit to students who obtain qualifying scores on the examinations. The AP curriculum for each of the various subjects is created for the College Board by a panel of experts and college-level educators in that academic discipline.

Pupils typically prepare for A-level or equivalent examinations like the IB or Pre-U. In England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the term Key Stage 5 has the same meaning. It only refers to academic education and not to vocational education. Sixth Form describes the two school years which are called by many schools the Lower Sixth (L6) and Upper Sixth (U6).

It is typically the third year of high school (and is the final year in some countries). Students in eleventh grade are usually 16-17 years of age. In Australia, Year 11 is the twelfth year of education and fifth year of high school education. Although there are slight variations between the states, most students in Year 11 are aged around fifteen, sixteen or seventeen.

D'après Merriam - Webster's, au le terme freshman est synonyme de novice dans un ordre religieux. L'expression avait aussi le sens péjoratif de « petit nouveau » ou « bleu ». Certaines communautés emploient des expressions alternatives, comme frosh, freshpeople, first-year, freshperson.
Pre-university courseIn the Indian education system of some Indian states, the Pre-University Course (PUC) or Pre-Degree Course (PDC) is referred to as Intermediate or +2 Course, which is an two-year senior secondary education course that succeeds the tenth grade (known as SSLC or SSC in such states, equivalent to sophomore in the US system) and precedes to the completion of an Senior Secondary Course.
Senior (education)The term senior, in regard to education, has different meanings depending on the country. In the United States education, a senior is a student in the fourth year of study, either in high school or college/university. The twelfth grade is the fourth and final year of a student's high school education. The year and the student are both referred to as senior. The fourth year of an undergraduate program is known as senior year, and 4th year students are known as seniors. Bachelor's degree programs are designed to be completed in four years.
