Sunyani, also known as the green city of Ghana, is the regional capital. Sunyani can pride itself as the cleanest capital city and a major conference destination. The region was created after the Ahafo region and Bono East region respectively have been carved out of the then Brong-Ahafo region.
AkyemsThe Akyem are an Akan people. The term Akyem (Akem, Akim or Aki) is used to describe a group of four states: Asante Akyem, Akyem Abuakwa, Akyem Kotoku and Akyem Bosome. These nations are located primarily in the eastern region in south Ghana. The term is also used to describe the general area where the Akyem ethnic group clusters. The Akyem ethnic group make up between 3-4 percent of Ghana's population depending on how one defines the group and are very prominent in all aspects of Ghanaian life.
Lac BosumtwiLe , parfois orthographié , est le seul lac naturel du Ghana, situé dans le sud du pays, à une trentaine de kilomètres au sud-est de la ville de Kumasi. Le lac, de forme circulaire, prédente un diamètre d’environ et une profondeur de , et se situe au creux d'un cratère d’impact. La population ashantie vivant dans la région considère le lac comme un lieu sacré et la navigation y est interdite.
