Westonzoyland
Westonzoyland is a village and civil parish in Somerset, England. It is situated on the Somerset Levels, south east of Bridgwater. The name of the parish derives from its location on the "island" of Sowy, an area of slightly higher ground on the Somerset Levels between the River Cary and the River Parrett. The parish of Westernzoyland was created in 1515 when the parish of Sowy was divided. Westonzoyland refers to the westernmost settlement on Sowy. The parish of Westonzoyland was part of the Whitley Hundred.
Somerset Levels
The Somerset Levels are a coastal plain and wetland area of Somerset, England, running south from the Mendips to the Blackdown Hills. The Somerset Levels have an area of about and are bisected by the Polden Hills; the areas to the south are drained by the River Parrett, and the areas to the north by the rivers Axe and Brue. The Mendip Hills separate the Somerset Levels from the North Somerset Levels. The Somerset Levels consist of marine clay "levels" along the coast and inland peat-based "moors"; agriculturally, about 70 per cent is used as grassland and the rest is arable.
Bridgwater
Bridgwater est une ville industrielle et une paroisse civile située dans le comté de Somerset, en Angleterre. Elle compte environ . La ville était nommée du prince Walter (Gautier, ou Walscin) Douai après la conquête normande de l'Angleterre par Guillaume le Conquérant. Somerset
Le comté du Somerset (pron. : ou ) en Angleterre du Sud-Ouest est limité au nord par la ville de Bristol et le Gloucestershire, le Wiltshire à l'est, le Dorset au sud-est et le Devon au sud-ouest. Il est en partie délimité au nord et à l'ouest par le canal de Bristol et l'estuaire du Severn. Sa frontière traditionnelle du nord est constituée par la rivière Avon mais la limite administrative a glissé vers le sud avec la création et l'expansion de la ville de Bristol et, plus tard, le comté d'Avon.
