Vestlandet
Vestlandet est l’une des cinq grandes régions géographiques (Landsdel) de la Norvège. Il présente la façade sud-ouest atlantique du pays, correspond à l’ouest norvégien Situé au sud de la région du Trondelag, Vestlandet longe le versant occidental du massif des Scandes. La région, qui est une appellation géographique sans fonction officielle ni politique en soi, comprend les comtés (fylker) de Rogaland, Vestland et Møre og Romsdal. L'ensemble recense une population d'environ 1,4 million d'habitants.
Lindås
Lindås était une kommune limitrophe de Bergen, dans le comté de Hordaland, en Norvège. Son centre administratif est Knarvik, situé dans la partie sud-est de la municipalité. Les autres zones habitées sont Lindås, Seim, Ostereidet, Alversund and Leknes. Elle fait partie du comté de Vestland et la commune d'Alver depuis le 1er janvier 2020. La municipalité a une des plus grosses raffineries de pétrole en Europe du Nord. La raffinerie de Mongstad est le plus gros employeur local. Des anciens campements vikings ont été retrouvés.
Meland
Meland is a former municipality in the Nordhordland district in the old Hordaland county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1923 until its dissolution on 1 January 2020 when it was merged into the new Alver Municipality in Vestland county. The municipality was located about 30 minutes north of the city of Bergen in Western Norway. The island municipality was mostly located on the island of Holsnøy, where the administrative centre of Frekhaug is located. Other villages in Meland include Hjartås, Holme, Io, Krossneset, Meland, and Rossland.
Kvinnherad
Kvinnherad is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Sunnhordland, along the Hardangerfjorden. The municipality was the 5th in size in former Hordaland county. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Rosendal. The largest village is Husnes, with about 6,000 people living in or near the village. Other villages include Ænes, Åkra, Dimmelsvik, Eidsvik, Hatlestrand, Herøysund, Høylandsbygd, Ølve, Sæbøvik, Sundal, Sunde, Uskedal, and Valen.
Eidfjord (commune)
Eidfjord is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The municipality is located in the traditional district of Hardanger. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Eidfjord, where the majority of the municipal population lives. The other major population centre in the municipality is the village of Øvre Eidfjord. Eidfjord is situated at the end of the Eid Fjord, an inner branch of the large Hardangerfjorden. The village of Eidfjord is a major cruise ship port of call.
Herdla
Herdla is a former municipality in the old Hordaland county in Norway. The municipality existed from 1871 until its dissolution in 1964. The municipality encompassed a large group of about 2,000 islands and skerries covering about of land area, to the northwest of the city of Bergen in what is now parts of Øygarden, Alver, and Askøy municipalities in Vestland county. The administrative centre of the municipality was the small island-village of Herdla.
Modalen
Modalen is a municipality in the Nordhordland district in the central part of Vestland county in Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Mo. The other main village in the municipality is Øvre Helland. Most of the residents of Modalen live in the main Modalen valley which extends eastwards from the end of the Romarheimsfjorden. The small population, combined with a large income from hydro-electric power production, has given the municipality the ability to give all its residents free wireless internet access in the municipality.
Stord
Stord is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Sunnhordland. Stord is sometimes called "Norway in miniature" since it has such a variety of landscapes: coastline, fjords, forests, agricultural land, and mountain areas. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Leirvik, which is also the largest town in the municipality and the whole region of Sunnhordland. Leirvik was declared a town in 1997.
Jondal
Jondal is a former municipality in the old Hordaland county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1863 until its dissolution in 2020 when it became part of Ullensvang Municipality in Vestland county. It was located on the Folgefonna peninsula in the Hardanger district, on the eastern shore of the Hardangerfjorden. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Jondal. Other villages in Jondal include Herand, Kysnesstranda, and Torsnes.
Alversund (municipality)
Alversund is a former municipality in the old Hordaland county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1885 until 1964. It was located in the southwestern part of the mainland portion of the present-day Alver Municipality in Vestland county. It originally included area on the island of Holsnøy as well, but that was later separated. Alversund covered upon its dissolution in 1964. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Alversund, where Alversund Church is located.
