Hunsrück
Le Hunsrück est un massif montagneux de la Rhénanie-Palatinat et de la Sarre (Allemagne) formant le rebord méridional du massif schisteux rhénan. Il est situé entre la Moselle au nord-ouest, le Rhin au nord-est, la Nahe au sud-est et la Sarre au sud. Le Hunsrück est le prolongement de l'Eifel par-delà la Moselle (rive droite), ainsi que le prolongement du Taunus par-delà le Rhin (rive gauche). Le sommet le plus élevé est l’Erbeskopf (816 mètres) dans l’.
Rhaunen
Rhaunen is an Ortsgemeinde – a municipality belonging to a Verbandsgemeinde, a kind of collective municipality – in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It was the seat of the former Verbandsgemeinde Rhaunen. The municipality lies at the Idar Forest in the Hunsrück in a sprawling, well watered hollow. The hollow separates the Idar Forest massif from the Soonwald massif. Within the village itself, the Lingenbach empties into the Rhaunelbach, which itself, along with the Näßbach, the Macherbach and the Büdenbach, empties into the Idarbach.
Kirn
Kirn est une ville allemande de située dans la vallée de la Nahe et dans le Land de Rhénanie-Palatinat. La ville fait partie de l'arrondissement de Bad Kreuznach et est sans en dépendre le siège de la commune fusionnée du Pays de Kirn. Connue pour la production de cuir et de bière, Kirn était la capitale des Wild- et Rhingraves, les princes de Salm-Kyrbourg, jusqu'à son annexion par la France dans les années 1790. Pour ces raisons, la ville de Kirn est aujourd'hui le principal centre historique et économique de toute une région du Hunsrück sur la Nahe.
Birkenfeld (Rhénanie-Palatinat)
Birkenfeld (ˈbɪʁkŋ̍fɛlt) is a town and the district seat of the Birkenfeld district in southwest Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is also the seat of the like-named Verbandsgemeinde. The town itself has approximately 7,000 inhabitants. The town lies in the Nahegebiet (Nahe area), to the north of the namesake river, on the edge of the Naturpark Saar-Hunsrück. Birkenfeld lies roughly 13 km southwest of Idar-Oberstein and 12 km northwest of Baumholder.
Kempfeld
Kempfeld is an Ortsgemeinde – a municipality belonging to a Verbandsgemeinde, a kind of collective municipality – in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Herrstein-Rhaunen, whose seat is in Herrstein. The municipality lies on the Deutsche Edelsteinstraße (“German Gem Road”) in the southern Hunsrück between the Idar Forest in the north and the town of Idar-Oberstein in the south. Also belonging to Kempfeld are the hamlet of Katzenloch and the outlying homesteads of Auf dem Steinberg, Herrenflur and Wildenburg.
Bruchweiler
Bruchweiler is an Ortsgemeinde – a municipality belonging to a Verbandsgemeinde, a kind of collective municipality – in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Herrstein-Rhaunen, whose seat is in Herrstein. The municipality lies on the south slope of the Steingerüttelkopf, which at 756 m above sea level is one of the highest peaks in the Hunsrück. Much of the local countryside is wooded, and Bruchweiler's elevation of 555 m above sea level makes it one of Rhineland-Palatinate's highest municipalities.
Niederwörresbach
Niederwörresbach is an Ortsgemeinde – a municipality belonging to a Verbandsgemeinde, a kind of collective municipality – in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Herrstein-Rhaunen, whose seat is in Herrstein. Niederwörresbach was shaped by the agate grinders' trade and the quarrying business. The local sport club's artistic gymnastics squad has earned international recognition.

The municipal area is 77.2% wooded.
Allenbach
Allenbach is an Ortsgemeinde – a municipality belonging to a Verbandsgemeinde, a kind of collective municipality – in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Herrstein-Rhaunen, whose seat is in Herrstein. The municipality lies in the Schwarzwälder Hochwald (forest) in the Hunsrück, roughly 14 km northwest of Idar-Oberstein and 12 km north of Birkenfeld. Also belonging to Allenbach is the homestead of Hüttgeswasen. In 1265, Allenbach had its first documentary mention as Ellenbach.
