Muzaka familyThe Muzaka were an Albanian noble family that ruled over the region of Myzeqe (southern Albania) in the Late Middle Ages. The Muzaka are also referred to by some authors as a tribe or a clan. The earliest historical document that mentions Muzaka family (around 1090) is written by the Byzantine historian Anna Komnene. At the end of the 13th and beginning of the 14th century members of the Muzaka family controlled a region between the rivers of Devoll and Vjosë.

CroïaKrujë (Kruja; see also the etymology section) is a town and a municipality in north central Albania. Located between Mount Krujë and the Ishëm River, the city is only 20 km north from the capital of Albania, Tirana. Krujë was inhabited by the ancient Illyrian tribe of the Albani. In 1190 Krujë became the capital of the first Albanian state in the middle ages, the Principality of Arbër.

Le père de Scanderbeg était le seigneur albanais Jean (Gjon) Castriote et sa mère Vojsava Kastrioti, une princesse fille du Seigneur de Pollog (Macédoine du Nord actuelle), Dominicus alias Moncinus, lié à la famille Muzaka.
