Valanchery
Valanchery is a major town and one of the 12 municipalities in Malappuram district, Kerala, India. It is one of the four municipalities in Tirur Taluk, besides Tirur, Kottakkal, and Tanur. It is situated about southeast to Karipur International Airport and southwards to the district headquarters, and forms a part of Malappuram metropolitan area. It is also one of the major commercial towns under the Malappuram urban agglomeration.
Malabar rebellion
The Malabar rebellion of 1921 (also called Moplah rebellion, and Mappila rebellion, Malayalam: malabār kalāpam) started as a resistance against the British colonial rule in Malabar region of Kerala. The popular uprising was also against the prevailing feudal system controlled by elite Hindus. For many, the rebellion was primarily a peasant revolt against the colonial government. During the uprising, the rebels attacked various symbols and institutions of the colonial state, such as telegraph lines, train stations, courts and post offices.
Pattambi
Pattambi is a town, taluk, and municipality in the Palakkad District of the state of Kerala, India. It is also the administrative headquarters of the Pattambi Taluk. Pattambi is located along the banks of Bharathappuzha river. A Mini Civil Station also functions here to provide government-related services. The town has made important cultural contributions. Pattambi was once the principal seat of Sanskrit learning and produced many eminent scholars and literary figures.
Manjeri
Manjeri (mɐɲd͡ʑeːɾi) is a major town and municipality in Malappuram district, Kerala, India. It is the fourth-most populous municipality in state. It is situated southeast to Karipur International Airport and northeast to Malappuram, the district headquarters, and forms a part of Malappuram metropolitan area. It is one of the major commercial towns under the Malappuram urban agglomeration and serves as the headquarters of Eranad Taluk. Manjeri Municipality is a Local Self Government Institution with a jurisdiction of three villages namely Manjeri, Payyanad, and Narukara.
District de Malappuram
Le district de Malappuram est un des quatorze districts de l'État du Kerala en Inde. Son chef-lieu est la ville de Malappuram. Au recensement de 2011 sa population est de habitants pour une superficie de . Il est au centre de l’État du Keral entre les Ghats occidentaux et la mer des Laquedives. Le district est traversé par trois rivières principales, la Chaliyar, la Kadalunidi et la Tirur dont la première est la plus importante car c'est la seule pérenne sur l'année.
District de Malabar
Le District de Malabar était en 1792 un district de la Présidence de Madras des Indes britanniques, puis de l'État de Madras lors de l'indépendance de l'Inde en 1947. Il avait une superficie de . En 1792 la création du district se fit par l’accrétion d'une partie des territoires de Tipû Sâhib puis par les Guerres anglo-marathes. Avec la Présidence de Madras, sa capitale était Calicut. Lors de l'Indépendance de l'Inde, l’État de Madras fut créé, lors de la réorganisation (1956) le découpage se fit sur des critères linguistiques.
Malappuram
Malappuram (മലപ്പുറം en Malayalam) est la quatrième plus grande ville du Kerala située en Inde. La cité est le centre du district éponyme, elle est gérée par un conseil municipal. La rivière Kadalundi irrigue la ville. La ville est reliée par la NH-213 et la NH-17, par le rail avec les gares de Angadipuram (17km de distance), les gares de Parappanangadi et Tirur (situées à ) aux grandes villes d'Inde. L'Aéroport international Calicut est une porte d'entrée de la ville.
Ponnani
Ponnani (ponːaːni) is a municipality in Ponnani Taluk, Malappuram District, in the state of Kerala, India. It serves as the administrative center of the Taluk and Block Panchayat of the same name. It is situated at the estuary of Bharatappuzha (River Ponnani), on its southern bank, and is bounded by the Arabian Sea on the west and a series of brackish lagoons in the south. It is the seventh-most populated municipality in the state, the second-most populated municipality in the district, and the most densely populated municipality in Malappuram district, having about 3,646 residents per square kilometre as of the year 2011.
Malayali
The Malayali people (mɐlɐjɐːɭi; also spelt Malayalee and sometimes known by the demonym Keralite) are a Dravidian ethnolinguistic group originating from the present-day state of Kerala in India, occupying its southwestern Malabar coast. They are predominantly native speakers of the Malayalam language, one of the six Classical languages in India. The state of Kerala was created in 1956 through the States Reorganisation Act. Prior to that, since the 1800s existed the Kingdom of Cochin, the Kingdom of Travancore, Malabar District, and South Canara of the British India.
