G-parity
In particle physics, G-parity is a multiplicative quantum number that results from the generalization of C-parity to multiplets of particles. C-parity applies only to neutral systems; in the pion triplet, only π0 has C-parity. On the other hand, strong interaction does not see electrical charge, so it cannot distinguish amongst π+, π0 and π−. We can generalize the C-parity so it applies to all charge states of a given multiplet: where ηG = ±1 are the eigenvalues of G-parity.
Méson êta
The eta (_eta) and eta prime meson (_eta prime) are isosinglet mesons made of a mixture of up, down and strange quarks and their antiquarks. The charmed eta meson (_charmed eta) and bottom eta meson (_bottom eta) are similar forms of quarkonium; they have the same spin and parity as the (light) _eta defined, but are made of charm quarks and bottom quarks respectively. The top quark is too heavy to form a similar meson, due to its very fast decay. The eta was discovered in pion–nucleon collisions at the Bevatron in 1961 by Aihud Pevsner et al.
Static forces and virtual-particle exchange
Static force fields are fields, such as a simple electric, magnetic or gravitational fields, that exist without excitations. The most common approximation method that physicists use for scattering calculations can be interpreted as static forces arising from the interactions between two bodies mediated by virtual particles, particles that exist for only a short time determined by the uncertainty principle. The virtual particles, also known as force carriers, are bosons, with different bosons associated with each force.
Chiral anomaly
In theoretical physics, a chiral anomaly is the anomalous nonconservation of a chiral current. In everyday terms, it is equivalent to a sealed box that contained equal numbers of left and right-handed bolts, but when opened was found to have more left than right, or vice versa. Such events are expected to be prohibited according to classical conservation laws, but it is known there must be ways they can be broken, because we have evidence of charge–parity non-conservation ("CP violation").
Méson oméga
The omega meson (_Omega meson) is a flavourless meson formed from a superposition of an up quark–antiquark and a down quark–antiquark pair. It is part of the vector meson nonet and mediates the nuclear force along with pions and rho mesons. The most common decay mode for the ω meson is _Pion+_Pion0_Pion- at 89.2±0.7%, followed by _Pion0_Gamma at 8.34±0.26%. The quark composition of the _Omega meson meson can be thought of as a mix between _up quark_up antiquark, _down quark_down antiquark and _strange quark_strange antiquark states, but it is very nearly a pure symmetric _up quark_up antiquark-_down quark_down antiquark state.
