Marwari peopleThe Marwari or Marwadi (Devanagari: मारवाड़ी) are an Indian ethnic group that originate from the Marwar region of Rajasthan, India. Their language, also called Marwari, comes under the umbrella of Rajasthani languages, which is part of the Western Zone of Indo-Aryan languages. They have been a highly successful business community, first as inland traders during the era of Rajput kingdoms, and later also as investors in industrial production and other sectors. Today, they control many of the country's largest media groups.
PushkarPushkar (Hindi : पुष्कर) appelée aussi Pokkar ou Pushkaranagaram (en sanskrit) est une ville de l'État indien du Rajasthan située à de la ville d'Ajmer, et un grand lieu de pèlerinage pour l'hindouisme. JodhpurJodhpur (जोधपुर [djodpour], « ville de Jodha ») est l'ancienne capitale du Mârvar et la deuxième ville de l'État indien du Rajasthan en nombre d'habitants, après la capitale de l’État, Jaipur, dont elle est distante de . Fondée en 1459 par , chef du clan des Rathore (hindi: राठौड), Jodhpur est communément surnommée la « ville bleue » car la plupart des maisons de la vieille ville sont peintes de cette couleur. Le bleu indiquait que ces maisons appartenaient à des membres de la caste des brahmanes.
