Anne-Sophie Chauvin

On 1999 she moved for 20 months to the University of Geneva, for a post-doctoral stay under the supervision of Prof. Alexandre Alexakis, where she focused on the determination of the absolute configuration of chiral alcohols using Organophosphorous Diamine Derivatizing Agents by 31P and 1H NMR Spectroscopy. On 2000 she joined the group of Prof Jean-Claude G. Bünzli and was appointed part-time lecturer in 2001, assuming teaching and research responsibilities. On 2006, she obtained the habilitation to direct research from the University René Descartes (HDR, Paris V, France) and since october 2007 she is Maître d'Enseignement et de Recherche at the EPFL. In 2010, she joigned the Laboratory for Photonics and Interfaces (LPI), headed by Pr. Michaël Graëtzel. Since the end of 2014, with the arrival of Dr Marinella Mazzanti at EPFL, she is back to lanthanide chemistry, dealing with coordination polymers. Her research interests concern supramolecular chemistry with the design of ligands which form water soluble complexes with luminescent lanthanides in view of biological applications. She is also interested in the synthesis of ligands and polymers for the extraction of lanthanide ions with high selectivity, and in the development of invisibke inks. She also developed organic dyes for dyes sensitized solar cells DSSC. She is now focusing on coordination polymers with luminescent properties and catalytic activity. Anne-Sophie Chauvin is involved in the teaching of General and Analytical Chemistry for students enrolled on first year in Pharmacy and Biology (UNIL): ex-cathedra courses (Chimie Générale et analytique I et II, approfondissement en chimie analytique pour pharmaciens) and exercices. She is in charge of practical sessions for students enroled in chemistry, forensic sciences, pharmacy and biology. She is elected at the FSB Faculty Council and was member of the EPFL Assembly (AE) for 6 years, until 2018. She was member of the Management committee of the Cost CM 1006 action entitled Eufen: European F-Element Network. She is Member of the Swiss Chemical Society (SCS) and Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC).
Kamiar Aminian
Kamiar Aminian received the M.S. degree in electrical engineering in 1982, the Ph.D degree in biomedical engineering in 1989 and the Postgraduate degree on technical computing in 1993 from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). He was assistant professor (1994-1996) with Sharif University of Technology (Tehran). He joint EPFL in 1996 where he is currently Professor of medical instrumentation and the director of the Laboratory of Movement Analysis and Measurement in the Institute of Bioengineering of EPFL. His research interests include methodologies for human movement monitoring and analysis in real world conditions mainly based on wearable technologies and inertial sensors with emphasis on gait, physical activity and sport. His research aims to perform outcome evaluation in orthopaedics, to improve motor function and intervention programs in aging and patients with movement disorders and pain, and to identify metrics of performance in sport science. Kamiar Aminian is a member of the International Society of Posture and Gait Research, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the European Society of Movement Analysis in Adults and Children, the Prevention of fall Network Europe, the Intentional Society of Biomechanics and the President of the 3D analysis of the human movement group. He is author or co-author of more than 450 scientific papers published in reviewed journals and presented at international conferences and holds 10 patents related to medical devices. Full CV ORCID
Caroline Vandevyver
Caroline Vandevyver received her degree in biochemistry in 1985 from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium and her Ph.D. degree in biotechnology at the same university in 1989. She joined the Biomedical Research Institute "Dr. L- Willems Instituut" in Hasselt, Belgium, in 1989. Subsequently, she has worked there on T cell mediated autoimmune diseases (Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis), genetic association and linkage studies in multifactorial diseases, mutation analysis of genetic disorders (Phenylketonuria, alpha 1 anti-trypsine deficiency, congenital adrenal hyperplasia) and the development of active and passive immune therapies for cancer. She joined EPFL in 2000 at the Laboratory of Chemical Biotechnology headed by Prof. Ruth Freitag, where she was responsible for the cell culture lab and the (recombinant) protein purification and characterization. She joined the Laboratory of Lanthanide Supramolecular Chemistry (LCSL) in May 2006, where she was responsible for the live cell imaging project with Lanthanide complexes. In 2005, she joined the Office of the Research Commission. Her duties there were the management of national and international fellowship programs, the management of local research awards and the promotion of research performed at EPFL. In August 2013, she was nominated coordinator of the International Funding, one of the pillars of the Research Office at EPFL. Since January 2017, she is the Head of EPFL's Research Office.
