He was also among the five ancient commentators whose commentaries had been preserved and made available to the Modern era, the others being Pari Perumal, Kaalingar, Paridhi, and Parimelalhagar.

He was also among the five ancient commentators whose commentaries had been preserved and made available to the Modern era, the others being Manakkudavar, Pari Perumal, Kaalingar, and Parimelalhagar. Paridhi is also referred to as Parudhi in olden manuscripts.
ParimelalhagarParimelalhagar (பரிமேலழகர்) (13th century CE), sometimes spelled Parimelazhagar, born Vanduvarai Perumal, was a Tamil poet and scholar known for his commentary on the Thirukkural. He was the last among the canon of ten medieval commentators of the Kural text most highly esteemed by scholars. He was also among the five oldest commentators whose commentaries had been preserved and made available to the Modern era, the others being Manakkudavar, Pari Perumal, Kaalingar, and Paridhi.
TirukkuṟaḷLe Tirukkuṟaḷ (திருக்குறள் connu également comme le Kural), écrit par Tiruvalluvar, est une œuvre tamoule faisant partie du corpus classique de la littérature du Sangam. Elle est composée de distiques ou couplets rimés exposant les différents enseignements utiles à l'homme pour mener une existence harmonieuse. Sa date de rédaction est incertaine. Le Tirukkural est le plus célèbre des écrits tamouls, tant à l’intérieur du pays tamoul qu’en dehors, en particulier en Occident dès le grâce aux travaux de traduction des missionnaires.
