MahaweliLe Mahaweli (en cingalais: මහවැලි ගඟ, littéralement « Grande Rivière de sable », en tamoul: மகாவலி ஆறு) est le plus long fleuve du Sri Lanka (). Il prend sa source dans les Horton Plains, à plus de d'altitude. Son cours supérieur traverse notamment les villes de Hatton, Ginigathhena, Nawalapitiya, Ulapane, Gampola, Peradeniya, Kandy, puis alimente le réservoir Victoria et le réservoir Randenigala. Son cours inférieur irrigue des plaines humides, en partie protégées par des réserves naturelles, puis se jette dans la baie de Koddiyar, qui s'ouvre sur le golfe du Bengale.
KurunegalaKurunegala (කුරුණෑගල, குருணாகல்) is a major city in Sri Lanka. It is the capital city of the North Western Province and the Kurunegala District. Kurunegala was an ancient royal capital for 50 years, from the end of the 13th century to the start of the 14th century. It is at the junction of several main roads linking to other important parts of the country. It is about from Colombo, from Kandy and from Matale. Located at an altitude of above sea level, Kurunegala is surrounded by coconut plantations and rubber estates.
Ketheeswaram templeKetheeswaram temple (திருக்கேதீசுவரம் Thirukketheeswaram) is an ancient Hindu temple in Mannar, Northern Province, Sri Lanka. It is the oldest temple in Sri Lanka with at least 1400 years of evidence. Overlooking the ancient Tamil port towns of Manthai and Kudiramalai, the temple has lain in ruins, been restored, renovated and enlarged by various royals and devotees throughout its history. Thirukketheeswaram is one of the Pancha Ishwarams dedicated to the Hindu deity Shiva and is venerated by Shaivas throughout the continent.
