MithilaLe Mithila (मिथिला), également connu comme Tirabhukti est une région géographique et culturelle du sous-continent indien, principalement situé dans l'État indien du Bihar, mais couvrant aussi le Teraï oriental (notamment la province du Madhesh) au Népal. La ville du même nom a été la capitale du royaume de Videha, un État de l'ancienne Inde. Gautama Bouddha a tenu plusieurs enseignements dans cette ville. Durement touchée par l'invasion musulmane (fin du siècle), la culture sanskrite du Bengale s'est réfugiée dans le nord du Bihar, à Mithila.
VidyapatiVidyapati (1352 – 1448), also known by the sobriquet Maithil Kavi Kokil (the poet cuckoo of Maithili), was a Maithili and Sanskrit polymath-poet-saint, playwright, composer, biographer, philosopher, law-theorist, writer, courtier and royal priest. He was a devotee of Shiva, but also wrote love songs and devotional Vaishnava songs. He knew Sanskrit, Prakrit, Apabhramsha and Maithili. Vidyapati's influence was not just restricted to Maithili and Sanskrit literature but also extended to other Eastern Indian literary traditions.
District de PurniaPurnia District is one of the thirty-eight districts of the Indian state of Bihar. The city of Purnia is the administrative headquarters of this district. The city of Purnia has continued its tradition of hoisting the national flag at 12:07 am on every Independence Day since 1947. Purnia district is a part of Purnia Division. The district extends northwards from the Ganges river. Purnia is part of the Mithila region. Mithila first gained prominence after it was settled by Indo-Aryan peoples who established the Mithila Kingdom (also called Kingdom of the Videhas).
ChhathChhath is an ancient Hindu festival historically native to the Indian subcontinent, more specifically, the Indian states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and the Nepalese provinces of Madhesh and Lumbini. Prayers during Chhath puja are dedicated to the solar deity, Surya, to show gratitude and thankfulness for bestowing the bounties of life on earth and to request that certain wishes be granted. Chhathi Maiya, the sixth form of Devi Prakriti and Lord Surya's sister is worshipped as the Goddess of the festival.
NavratriNavratri ou Navaratri (sanskrit : नवरात्रि, littéralement : « neuf nuits ») est une fête hindoue qui célèbre durant neuf nuits et dix jours des formes diverses de la Shakti, l'Énergie féminine divine, principalement la déesse Durga qui est très fêtée dans l'est de l'Inde durant cette période. Dans le sud, c'est Sarasvati qui est mise à l'honneur. Dans le nord, il n'est pas rare de voir une célébration consacrée au livre épique, le Ramayana.
Koshi (province)La province de Koshi (en népalais : कोशी प्रदेश) est l'une des sept provinces du Népal. L'échelon administratif de la province est introduit par la constitution népalaise de 2015, chacune d'entre elles ayant sa propre assemblée et son gouvernement provincial. Karnat dynastyKarnat or Karnata dynasty was a dynasty established in 1097 CE by Nanyadeva. The dynasty had two capitals which were Simraungadh in Bara District of Nepal and Darbhanga, Bihar which became the second capital during the reign of Gangadeva. The kingdom controlled the areas we today know as Tirhut or Mithila in Bihar state of India and Nepal. This region is bounded by the Mahananda River in the east, the Ganges in the south, the Gandaki River in the west and by the Himalayas in the North.
TeraïLe Teraï, ou Téraï (तराई, तराइ, tarāī), est la partie népalaise de la plaine indo-gangétique qui couvre également une large partie de l'Inde du Nord. Le Teraï est parsemé de prairies marécageuses, de savanes et de forêts tropicales. Son altitude est comprise entre 60 et 300 mètres. Le climat y est subtropical. Il constitue le grenier à blé du pays ainsi qu'un centre industriel et financier actif. La région est essentiellement peuplée d'ethnies représentant près de la moitié de la population du Népal.
BhumiharBhumihars, also locally called Bhuinhar and Babhan, are a Hindu caste mainly found in Bihar (including the Mithila region), the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, the Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh, and Nepal. They have traditionally been a land-owning group of eastern India, and controlled some small princely states and zamindari estates in the region in the early 20th century. They played an important role in the peasant movements and politics of Bihar.
Madheshi peopleMadheshi people (मधेशी) is a term used for several ethnic groups living in the central and eastern Terai region of Nepal, constituting 32% of Nepal's population. It has also been used as a political pejorative term by the Pahari people of Nepal to refer to non-pahari people with a non-Nepali language as their mother tongue, regardless of their place of birth or residence. The term Madheshi became a widely recognised name for Nepali citizens with an Indian cultural background only after 1990.
