Les habitants de Macclesfield sont appelés "Maxoniens". La première référence à cette ville apparait dans le Domesday Book, qui fait mention d'un "Maclesfeld", situé dans le Hundred de Hamestan. Lord Edward, le futur Édouard d'Angleterre accorda à la ville le statut de Borough en 1261. L'origine du nom de la ville semblerait être "Michael's field".
HolmfirthHolmfirth is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees, West Yorkshire, England, on the A635 and A6024 in the Holme Valley, at the confluence of the River Holme and Ribble, south of Huddersfield and west of Barnsley. Clay CrossClay Cross is a town and a civil parish in the North East Derbyshire district of Derbyshire, England. It is a former industrial and mining town, about south of Chesterfield. It is directly on the A61. Surrounding settlements include North Wingfield, Tupton, Pilsley and Ashover. The High Street was built over a pre-dating Roman road, that may have been called Rykneild Street, where a tollhouse (1786-1876) was situated. The discovery of coal in the area, introduced the village to the Industrial Revolution.
