Professional services

Professional services are occupations in the service sector requiring special training in liberal arts and pure sciences education or professional development education. Some professional services, such as architects, accountants, engineers, doctors, and lawyers require the practitioner to hold professional degrees or licenses and possess specific skills. Other professional services involve providing specialist business support to businesses of all sizes and in all sectors; this can include tax advice, supporting a company with accounting, IT services, public relations services or providing management services.

Accenture est une entreprise mondiale de conseil comptant plus de 738 000 salariés dans 120 pays. L'Américaine Julie Sweet dirige l'entreprise depuis septembre 2019. Accenture est issu du département informatique d'Arthur Andersen, que les Américains Arthur Andersen et Clarence DeLany ont créé en 1913 sous le nom Andersen, DeLany & Co. En 1989, ce département "conseil en informatique" se sépare d'Arthur Andersen (AA) et se renomme Andersen Consulting (AC).

Consultant

Un consultant est un prestataire de services en conseil. Souvent regroupé au sein de sociétés de conseil ou intervenant de façon indépendante, il dispose d'un savoir-faire avéré dans un ou plusieurs domaines. Selon le Grand dictionnaire terminologique, le mot anglais consultant désigne un spécialiste extérieur à une organisation à qui l'on fait appel afin d'obtenir un avis au sujet d'une question ou de l'aide pour résoudre un problème précis. La traduction de cet anglicisme est conseiller.
