Riccardo Rattazzi
Riccardo Rattazzi was born in Novara (Italy) in 1964. He studied physics at the University of Pisa, where he received the Laurea cum laude in 1987, and at the Scuola Normale Superiore where he received the Diploma in Scienze and carried out graduate research in theoretical physics. After having been a post-doctoral research associate at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, at Rutgers University and at CERN, in 1998 Riccardo obtained a permanent research position at the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare in Pisa. From 2001 to 2006 he was a staff member at the Theory Division of CERN. In 2006 he was appointed professor of physics at EPFL.
Michele Ceriotti
Michele Ceriotti received his Ph.D. in Physics from ETH Zürich in 2010. He spent three years in Oxford as a Junior Research Fellow at Merton College. Since 2013 he leads the laboratory for Computational Science and Modeling in the Institute of Materials at EPFL. His research revolves around the atomic-scale modelling of materials, based on the sampling of quantum and thermal fluctuations and on the use of machine learning to predict and rationalize structure-property relations. He has been awarded the IBM Research Forschungspreis in 2010, the Volker Heine Young Investigator Award in 2013, an ERC Starting Grant in 2016, and the IUPAP C10 Young Scientist Prize in 2018.
Vincenzo Savona
De nationalité italienne, Vincenzo Savona est né en 1969. Il effectue ses études de physique à lEcole normale supérieure de Pise et à lUniversité de Pise. Puis il entreprend une thèse de doctorat à lInstitut de physique théorique de lEPFL. Il effectue des recherches post-doctorales à lEPFL, puis à lInstitut de physique de lUniversité Humboldt de Berlin. En 2002, il revient à lEPFL pour y constituer son groupe de recherche, bénéficiant dun subside «professeur boursier» du Fonds national suisse de la recherche scientifique. En 2006, il est nommé professeur assistant tenure-track à lEPFL et intègre le NCCR de photonique quantique. En 2010 il est nommé professeur associé. Actuellement, il dirige le Laboratoire de physique théorique des nanosystèmes.
