Cord-cutting

In broadcast television, cord-cutting refers to the pattern of viewers, referred to as cord-cutters, cancelling their subscriptions to multichannel television services available over cable or satellite, dropping pay television channels or reducing the number of hours of subscription TV viewed in response to competition from rival media available over the Internet. This content is either free or significantly cheaper than the same content provided via cable.

Windows Media Center

Windows Media Center est une application conçue par Microsoft pour servir de media center. Initialement incluse dans une édition spécifique de Windows, l'édition media center de Windows XP, elle est par la suite intégrée dans les versions haut de gamme de Windows Vista et Windows 7 (éditions Familiale Premium et Intégrale). Windows Media Center n'est pas inclus dans Windows 8. À la place, il fait partie de l'add-on Media Center Pack disponible uniquement dans les versions pour la vente de Windows 8 Pro et Pro Pack qui fait évoluer Windows 8 en Windows 8 Pro.

CableCARD

CableCARD is a special-use PC Card device that allows consumers in the United States to view and record digital cable television channels on digital video recorders, personal computers and television sets on equipment such as a set-top box not provided by a cable television company. The card is usually provided by the local cable operator, typically for a nominal monthly fee. In a broader context, CableCARD refers to a set of technologies created by the United States cable television industry to allow devices from non-cable companies to access content on the cable networks.

10-foot user interface

In computing, 10-foot user interface, 10-foot UI or 3-meter user interface is a graphical user interface designed for televisions. Compared to desktop computer and smartphone user interfaces, it uses text and other interface elements which are much larger in order to accommodate a typical television viewing distance of . Additionally, the limitations of a television's remote control necessitate extra user experience considerations to minimize user effort.
