Master's degree in Europe
Master's degrees in Europe are the second cycle of the Bologna process, following on from undergraduate bachelor's degrees and preceeding third cycle doctorates. Master's degrees typically take two years to complete, although the number of years varies between countries, and correspond to 60 – 120 ECTS credits. Within the European Higher Education Area, representing almost all countries in Europe, master's degrees are referenced to the Framework of Qualifications for the European Higher Education Area and national qualifications frameworks.
Docteur (titre)
Le titre de docteur (Dr) est décerné aux titulaires du grade universitaire de doctorat. Le terme de docteur vient du verbe latin docēre qui signifie « enseigner » car le diplôme permettait d'enseigner dans les facultés de droit et de théologie des universités du Moyen Âge, alors que le diplôme de licence (licencia docendi) ne permettait d'enseigner que dans les collèges de la faculté des arts (nos actuels lycées). Le titre de docteur est ainsi utilisé comme titre académique depuis plus d'un millénaire en Europe.
Système européen de transfert et d'accumulation de crédits
Le Système européen de transfert et d’accumulation de crédits ou ECTS pour European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System, est un système de points développé par l'Union européenne dans le cadre du processus de Bologne et de l'espace européen de l'enseignement supérieur (EHEA). Les crédits sont répartis en unités d'enseignements (UE). Il a pour objectif de faciliter la lecture et la comparaison des programmes d'études au sein d'un pays et dans les différents pays européens.
Education in Poland
Education in Poland is compulsory; every child must receive education from when they are 7 years old until they are 18 years old. It is also mandatory for 6-year-old children to receive one year of kindergarten (przedszkole, literally pre-school) education, before starting primary school (szkoła podstawowa) at 7 years old. Primary school lasts eight years (grades 1–8), and students must take a final exam at the end of the eighth grade. After graduating from primary school, people typically go on to attend secondary school (szkoła średnia), which lasts 4 or 5 years.
Divinity (academic discipline)
Divinity is the study of Christian theology and ministry at a school, divinity school, university, or seminary. The term is sometimes a synonym for theology as an academic, speculative pursuit, and sometimes is used for the study of applied theology and ministry to make a distinction between that and academic theology. While it most often refers to Christian study which is linked with the professional degrees for ordained ministry or related work, it is also used in an academic setting by other faith traditions.
