This paper reports on four experimental studies concerning regard to how people use space so as to solve problems collaboratively in virtual environments. Prior to presenting the results, it summarizes the wide range of literature concerning social uses of ...
Building ubiquitous applications that exploit location requires both low-level underlying infrastructure for linking sensors and managing spatial information and also high-level representation of the measured space to produce a pleasant user experience. Ho ...
This paper reviews the literature about social and cognitive functions of spatial features used when collaborating in both physical and virtual settings. Those concepts come from various fields like social, cognitive as well as environmental psychology or ...
This paper reports on results from a field experiment using a pervasive game that aims at eliciting the influence of location-awareness of others in a mobile and collaborative task. We present the environment as well as first results concerning how differe ...
Ubiquitous computing is still a maturing field of investigation. The vision of the seamless integration of computers to people’s life has yet to happen, if it ever has to become a reality. Nowadays, most mobile, distributed systems and sensor technologies ...
This contribution presents an ongoing study focused on how location awareness feature modifies collaboration in the context of mobile computing. First it describes the environment we designed and implemented in the form of a mobile game called CatchBob!. T ...
In this paper we seek to empirically study the use of location-awareness of others in the context of mobile collaboration. We report on a field experiment carried out using a pervasive game we developed called CatchBob!. Using both quantitative and qualita ...
There is an ever growing number of mobile learning applications based on location-awareness, However, there is still a lack of information concerning how it might impact socio-cognitive processes involved in collaboration. This is what the following empiri ...
