Topical problems in power transfer and distribution networks in relation to modern means of communication

Having regard to the increasing demand for electric energy in Western Europe, the paper discusses growing problems on the supply side in connection with increasing costs and protection of the environment, whilst new lines have to be built in a complex system of existing networks, necessitating a broad view of new projects.
